Quick verdict

LendPlus is a fast, no-nonsense option for salaried employees who are up to date on any existing debt. The 15-minute process and fixed annual rate make costs predictable. It's less suitable if you're self-employed, a pensioner, or have overdue loans.

How to apply for a LendPlus loan

Applying to LendPlus is done entirely online and usually takes just a few minutes. Here's what the process looks like from start to payout:

  1. Choose your amount and term. Decide how much you need (LendPlus offers R500 to R4,000) and over how long (5 to 35 days). Borrow only what you can comfortably repay.
  2. Complete the online form. Enter your personal, contact and income details. Have your South African ID and banking details ready.
  3. Affordability & ID checks. As required by the National Credit Act, LendPlus runs an affordability assessment before approving any loan. This protects you from taking on debt you can't afford.
  4. Review and sign. If approved, you'll receive a pre-agreement statement showing the full cost of credit. Read it carefully, then sign digitally.
  5. Get paid. Once signed, funds are paid into your bank account — often the same business day.

What does a LendPlus loan cost?

LendPlus advertises rates of 60% per year. But the advertised rate is only part of the picture — under the National Credit Act, a South African lender may also add a once-off initiation fee, a monthly service fee (up to R69), and, on longer personal loans, credit life insurance. Always compare the total amount repayable shown in your pre-agreement statement, not just the headline rate.

Borrow responsiblyA loan is a serious commitment. Only borrow what you can repay from your next income, and never pay an upfront fee to "release" a loan — that's a scam. If you're struggling with debt, contact the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627.
